Randy Lee Reid, Sr.

October 9, 1954 — July 3, 2024

Hobbs

Randy Lee Reid Sr was born October 9th,1954 in Hoyleton, Illinois to Henry and Barbara Reid. He passed away July 3rd, 2024, and went to be with his loving wife Vickie whom he missed terribly.

My dad and mom met when they were very young teenagers, my dad always joked he had to raise my mom. But the truth is she had to raise him, my dad always worked hard, partied, and lived life by the seat of his pants as fast as he could, I don't know how my mom kept up with him, but she did. She told me one time she knew when she married him it was going to be a wild ride and it sure was. My dad and mom got married February 24th, 1972, both just 17. My mom had just turned 17, 4 days before. They were married 51 years when my mom passed June 1st, 2023.The day my dad passed they told me he hung his head and went to sleep sitting up and maybe it was a heart attack or another stroke, but my dad died of a broken heart from losing my mom. My parents loved each other so much and my dad didn't know how to be here without her. I think he would have left sooner, but he hung around to make sure me and my brother were going to be ok.

Before my dad got sick you could always find him in his shop listening to music and tinkering with something or just hanging out with Wayde and David and anyone else who happened to wander over. He enjoyed going bird hunting with Wayde or going to the river or lake.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Babara Reid, his wife Vickie Reid of 51 years, granddaughter Dana Rhoades, one sister Beverly Humphries and sister-in-law Gwen Reid.

He is survived by his daughter Tammy (Keith) Hughes of Monument NM, son Randy Reid, Jr. of Hobbs NM, grandsons Riley Hughes of Monument, NM and Dominic (Breckin) Hughes of Seminole, Texas and great-grandson Hudson Lee Hughes, his brother Gary Reid of Hobbs, NM, sisters Dianna (David) McCann of Hobbs NM, Sheila Roquemore of Pampa, Texas, and Linda Reid of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, sister-in-law Connie Mawk of Portales, NM and several nieces and nephews.

I would like to thank the staff and aids that took care of my dad at Desert Springs and to the one aid Rom. He would only let her do things for him and he would always look forward to her coming back to work on her days off.
