Phyllis Nelson

After a family reunion/Christmas celebration on December 22, Maxine passed away peacefully on January 4, 2019, at the age of 91.

She was born July 7, 1927 to Marion and Lillie Chism Hamrick in Colorado City, Tx.

In 1954 Maxine moved to Monahans Tx with her two sons, Dick and Don Bratton where she met Farris Nelson. They were married August 24, 1957 and added to the family two more sons, Brian and Scott Nelson. In 1961 they moved to Hobbs, NM. Over the years Maxine was heavily involved in service to her family, First Baptist Church, meals on wheels and other areas of the community.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Farris Nelson. Four sons: Dick and his wife Gay Bratton, of Huffman, Tx; Don and his wife Rita Bratton, of Hobbs, NM; Brian and his wife Kim Nelson, of Hobbs, NM; and Scott and his wife Nannette Nelson, of Ruidoso, NM. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. One sister, Janie and her husband Robert Henderson, of Colorado City, Tx and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
