Peggy R. Johnson

Peggy Ruth Johnson went to be with her “Lord” on March 8, 2025. Peggy was born on October 28, 1935, in Elizabethton, Tennessee. She was one of seven daughters and three sons of Minnie and Henry McKeehan. Peggy grew up in Elizabethton and moved to Washington DC after she graduated from high school in 1953 to work for the FBI. It was here she met the love of her life, Don Johnson on a blind date. They were married on May 4, 1957 and moved to Hobbs, NM. where they lived together until Don’s death. Peggy worked many years at DA&S until her retirement in 1990. She loved reading, cooking, watching sports, and spending time with her family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Don Johnson, parents Henry and Minnie McKeehan, her brothers Norman McKeehan, Ralph McKeehan, and sister Pearl Solis. She is survived by her daughter and husband Donna and Ronny Choate of Hobbs, NM, grandson Chris Choate S/O LaKayla of Hobbs, NM, grandson and wife Neal and Crystal Choate of Dallas, TX., brother Howard McKeehan of Spruce Pine, NC, sisters Ola Kite of Kingsport, TN, Phyllis Bartalone of Elizabethton, TN, Kay Herman of Suffolk, VA, Margaret Lewis of Elizabethton, TN and Wanalyn Chapman of Jonesboro, TN.
