With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia Ann Crossland on February 7th, at 4:00 am surrounded by friends and her beloved family.
Patricia Ann Crossland of Hobbs, N.M. was born on May 29, 1949, to Mattie and HM Callender in Electra, Texas. She was a beloved sister, mother, and grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her three children, Christy Dawn (Robert Rodriguez), Bobby Duane (Christy Rodriguez) and Johnny Brett (Michelle Crossland). Her three brothers are Howard Callender of Stanton, TX (Sally), Artie Callender of Houston, TX (Tammy) and Gary Callender of Hobbs, NM (Vicky). She has ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, 2 1/2 greats. She was preceded in death by beloved husband of 21 years Bobby Burns Crossland, her parents Mattie and HM Callender, her three sisters-Ethel, Brenda, Benetta and sister[JC1] -in-law Tammy.
Patricia had a love for softball and was admitted into the USSSA Hall of Fame for her no hitter award. She also had other hobbies such as bowling and volleyball. She particularly favored the Atlanta Braves and loved her Dallas Cowboys. Patricia cherished her other hobbies such as fishing, gardening, and being with her horses. Patricia was a devoted employee of the City of Hobbs in the Parks and Recreation department. She later moved to Head Start as Ms. Pat, the bus driver. From there she would then later retire at the Guidance Center after eight years. Patricia also showed her unwavering dedication for the Hobbs Eagles by volunteering many years working for the football games and basketball games. Her love for travel was reflected in many trips she took with her dear friend Diana Jimenez and all her road trips with her dear sister-in-law Vicky.
Her unwavering love for her family was shown daily as the Matriarch of the Crossland family. Each and every one of us will cherish each special memory made with her and are comforted by knowing she will be watching over all of her loved ones.
