Funeral service for Opal Flynn Green Franklin, 93, of Hobbs will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. The Rev. Darren Skinner will officiate. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. 7 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Opal died February 4, 2011, at Lea Regional Medical Center. She was born September 25, 1917, in Emerson, Arkansas. She married Ollie Franklin on April 18, 1936, in Magnolia, Arkansas.
Opal attended First United Methodist Church since the early 1950s. She was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Opal loved growing flowers. Her family and grandchildren were her greatest joys in life.
Survivors include two sons, James Franklin, Jr. and wife, Hazel, of Frisco, TX: Norman Richard Franklin and wife, Mary, of Kermit, TX: one sister, Gertrude Wise of Magnolia, AR four grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and three sisters.
