Onie Marie Hudson, at the age of 93, died Sunday, May 20, 2012. Marie Hudson was born July 11th, 1918, into the family of George and Iva Stewart of Fort Worth, Texas.
Marie graduated from North Side High School and Shield of Faith Bible Institute, both in Fort Worth, Texas, where she was active in womens basketball and softball while attending high school.
Marie married Rev. Raymond H. Hudson October 15, 1943, and began a lifetime of ministry together at various churches in Texas and New Mexico. First Assembly of God church in Hobbs, New Mexico was their longest tenure serving as pastors before Rev. Hudson was elected New Mexico District Superintendent. In 1973 Rev. Hudson was elected General Treasurer to the General Council of the Assemblies of God, Springfield, Mo. Marie served as Chaplin at the Cox Medical Center while residing in Springfield.
During Maries many years as a ministers wife she was speaker for womens groups, etc. and in April ,1989, she was given certification to preach by the District Council of the Assemblies of God.
Rev. and Mrs. Hudson moved back to Hobbs , NM, after retirement and resided there until moving to Good Samaritan of Lovington, NM, due to health reasons. Rev. Hudson died in March, 2010. Marie has anxiously been awaiting to be reunited with her beloved husband, parents, brothers, sister and friends for some time now. What a reunion
Marie is survived by one brother, Holly Stewart, and wife Dorothy, of Hobbs, NM, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends.
To all of us who loved this dear lady so much and whose lives have been blessed by her,
we thank God for her sweetness and love.
Visitation for Marie will be 1 7 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel of Hope. The family will receive guests from 5 7 p.m.
The celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Faith Assembly of God Church located at 2400 Millen Dr., Hobbs, NM, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial service will be conducted at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Hobbs, immediately following the Celebration of Life Service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church of ones choice.
