Oley Youngblood, Jr.

Funeral services for Oley Youngblood Jr. of Hobbs, N.M., will be held 2 p.m. Friday; Jan. 4, 2008, at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Dean Mathis officiating.

Cremation will take place. Visitation is 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. today with the family in attenshy;dance from 5 - 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m.-noon.

Mr. Youngblood, 77, died Dec. 31, 2007, at Lea Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug: 6, 1930, in Hart, Texas. He married Frances L. Youngblood on June 1, 1950, in Tatum, N.M.

Oley moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1979. For 27 years, Oley owned OS Quick Change. He was a member of the ABC Club. Oley taught Bible class for 16 years in Lubbock, Texas. He enjoyed restoring old cars.

One of his greatest joys was watching and spoiling his grandshy;children. He took an active part in their lives. Oley was a policeshy;man in Lubbock, Texas for 13 years; 12 of those years as a motorcycle policeman where he was highshy;ly decorated. He farmed at Morton, Texas; from 1965-1971.

He moved the family back to Lubbock and served as a deputy from 1965-1971, and then served as a deputy sheriff for two years before going to work at Modern Chevrolet as a salesman. He was the Chevrolet regional salesman of the year for two straight years. He then moved to Town and Country Chevrolet as the general manshy;ager. He served in this capacity until he moved his family to Hobbs in December of 1978. He opened Kwik Oil Change in March of 1979. The name was changed in April of 1988. He semi-retired in 2002. He lived his life for God and his family. He is waiting for the rest of us in Heaven.

He was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Youngblood of the home; a son, Scot Youngblood and wife Patricia of Hobbs, N.M.; three grandchildren, Aric Youngblood, Nathaniel Youngblood and Andrienne Youngblood, all of Hobbs, N.M.; a brother, John Weldon and wife Joann of Midland, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Oley was preceded in death by his parents, Oley and Jimmie Lee Youngblood and a sister Mildred Greer.
