Our dear dad and papa, Norman Howard Faught, 96, of Hobbs, New Mexico went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 9, 2017 in Midland, Texas. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final hours.
A celebration of his homegoing will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 15 at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, 3321 N. Dal Paso Street, Hobbs, New Mexico. Pastor Jay Carey of Crosswinds Community Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2909 N. Dal Paso, Hobbs, New Mexico. Friends may visit with family Tuesday, March 14 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Chapel of Hope. Memorials may be made to the West Texas Boys Ranch, 10223 Boys Ranch Road, San Angelo, Texas, 76904 or Alzheimer's Foundation.
Norman was born March 28, 1920 in Doss, Texas to John F. and Wilhemina (Baethge) Faught. He grew up in Eldorado, Texas and married Elizabeth Anna Faull June 14, 1952. He was one of 9 children who loved and supported each other throughout their lives. They were very proud of their heritage and enjoyed telling stories of their times with family. Dad retired from Marathon Oil Company in 1985. He was a devoted employee and developed many lifelong friendships with his fellow co-workers. They were a tight knit community who instilled a strong work ethic in their children. Dad was very active in the Senior Community in Hobbs. He participated in the Senior Olympics and looked forward to the Friday night dances. He was a master of woodworking and he loved creating pieces for family members that will be forever cherished for years to come. He loved playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and they have fond memories of times spent with Papa. He will be remembered by many for his witty sense of humor and his sweet demeanor. He definitely lived up to his nickname "Sweet Pea".
Norman is survived by his 3 children, Diane Faught Hallford of Midland, TX, Everett L. Faught and wife Misty of Peralta, NM and James C. Faught and wife Norma of Hobbs, NM; 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, his brother, John F. Faught of Midland, TX, and his dear friend and companion, Francoise Rowlett of Hobbs, NM.
