Norma Stroud

Funeral services for Helen Stroud of Hobbs, New Mexico will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Shook officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Visitation is 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Chapel of Hope.

Mrs. Stroud, 83, died October 17, 2009, at Nor-Lea General Hospital in Lovington, New Mexico. She was born October 16, 1925, in Portales, New Mexico. She married Bo Stroud on January 14, 1943, in Portales.

Mrs. Stroud enjoyed ceramics, sewing and embroidery. She was the office manager for American Valve and Meter until a year ago. Helen loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bo Stroud of Hobbs; a daughter, Belva Martin and husband Don of Hobbs; a grandson, Jerry Martin and wife Rene of Hobbs; a granddaughter Kristi Mason and husband Jarrad of Hobbs; and four great-great grandchildren, Chelsea and Bailey Martin of Hobbs and Lexi and Rylan Mason of Hobbs.

Helen was preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Stroud, and a grandson, Jonathan Stroud, both in August, 2009.
