Neva Brown

Neva Faye Brown, 65, was born May 25, 1948 in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Bill and Pauline Edwards. After a courageous battle, the Lord brought her home to be free of pain on May 16, 2014. Neva married the love of her life, Gayron Brown on December 14, 2001 at Castle Avenue Baptist Church in Hobbs.

Neva was an educator. She earned her Associates degree from New Mexico Junior College. She received her Bachelors degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She graduated with honors from both colleges. She was listed in Whos Who at NMJC and ENMU. She earned her Masters degree in School Administration from University of the Southwest. Neva taught for seventeen years at Southern Heights Elementary School. She retired in October 2013. Neva was a gifted writer, poet, and artist. Neva was a wonderful wife, mom, friend, and Nanny.

Neva is survived by her husband Gayron Brown son and daughterinlaw Donie and Melanie Irvin of Hobbs son and daughterinlaw Mitchell and Carrie Irvin of Albuquerque, New Mexico daughter and soninlaw Becki and John Mullen of Hobbs grandson and wife Tyler and Amanda Irvin of Hobbs grandson Rance Irvin of Hobbs grandsons Jack, Finn, and Cian Irvin of Albuquerque, and Jaxon Mullen of Hobbs great granddaughters Aleah and Alesha Gonzales of Hobbs and brother and wife Jerry and Kay Alexander of Fort Worth, Texas.

Neva was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Pauline Edwards, and sister Mary Brown.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Wednesday, May 21, 2014.8 a.m. to service time. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, Hobbs, New Mexico, officiated by Pastor Ray Poskey. Interment will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Cemetery, Hobbs, New Mexico.
