Nellie Maime Lavern Tippy, 77, died Saturday February 3, 2007 at home in Hobbs, NM surrounded by her loving family. Nell was born August 25, 1929 in Bonita, LA. She married L.B. Tippy on March 31, 1950 at Dyess AR. She moved to Hobbs, NM with her husband in 1951. She is survived by her husband LB Tippy; four sons and their wives: Lee Kathleen Tippy, of Odessa TX, Jim Susan Tippy, Roger Carmon Tippy, and Joe Debbie Tippy all of Hobbs NM; ten grandchildren: Justin and wife Chantel of College Station, Jason and wife Lauren of Monahans, Rex and wife Amy of Midland, Clint, Gayla, Crystal of Lubbock; Cody and wife Wendi, Sharilyn and husband Shane, Camillia, and Guy Ross of Hobbs; three great grand children: Kenzi and Kodi Rayne of Hobbs and Brooke of College Station; a sister Opal Senger, a brother Ken Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Clara Ward; a sister, Evelyn Tippy; and a brother, Paul Ward.
Nell was one of the worlds greatest mothers. She was devoted to her Lord Jesus and a faithful member of Life Temple United Pentecostal Church. Nell loved singing in church and spending time with her grandchildren. Another great pleasure in her life was decorating; she made numerous life long friends and enjoyed over 25 happy years as a Home Interior Representative. She had several occupations in addition to being a wonderful wife and homemaker: she worked at the Hobbs News Sun as both bookkeeper and carrier; managed the family business, Kens Radiator, in Hobbs and also did farm census work for the USDA. She was a caring and compassionate lady who touched many lives in Hobbs and surrounding communities and will be deeply missed.
