Monroe Watkins

A memorial service for Mac Watkins of Hobbs, New Mexico, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with Pastor Rick McComas officiating.

Cremation will take place at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Mr. Watkins, 94, died October 28, 2009, at Hobbs Health Care Center. He was born August 24, 1915, in Electra, Texas. He married Mildred Peacock Watkins on March 12, 1938, in Electra, Texas.

Mac had been employed with Texaco Oil Co. while living in Electra, Texas. He moved to Hobbs in 1949 and worked for Fluid Pack Co. He was the owner of M M Pump until his retirement in 1985. Mac was loved by his family and will be greatly missed.

He was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Watkins, of Hobbs; a son John Watkins of Hobbs; two grandsons, John Lynn Watkins of Duncanville, Texas, and John Cutter Watkins of Hobbs; three granddaughters, Lisa Hicks of Decatur, Texas, Wendi Sameneigo of Cyprus, Texas, and Raney Watkins of Odessa, Texas; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Mac was preceded in death by a son, Mackie Watkins in 1973.
