Mildred Louise Rutledge was born to Paul and Thelma Morris in Gotebo Oklahoma on January 16, 1922. She married Ramah D Rutledge on May 21, 1941 and the couple moved to Portales, New Mexico where they spent most of their lives. After retiring from the university, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at the hospital, and also spent many hours working cross word puzzles and word searches. Mildred moved to Hobbs in 2000 and attended Taylor Memorial Baptist Church. She was a resident at Desert Gardens until her passing on March 23. Mildred accepted Jesus as her Savior at a young age and is now home. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Thelma Morris, her husband Ramah D Rutledge, and her brothers Clyde Morris and Gerald Morris. She is survived by her son Doug, and his wife Linda Rutledge of Hobbs, New Mexico. Grandsons Michael and his wife Donna Rutledge of Hobbs, and Jeremy and his wife Mandi Rutledge of Midland, Texas. Great grandchildren Britain and Cambria of Hobbs, and Logan and Landon of Midland, Texas. Sister Kathleen and her husband Doyle Frasier of Tucumcari, New Mexico, and brother Paul Ray and his wife Teri Morris of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mildred's life will be held on Thursday, March 26th, at 11:00am at Chapel of Hope, with a balloon release to follow. Mildred will be buried next to her husband in Portales at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. John Kernan, Desert Gardens, and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care she was given.
