Mildred Ann Cecil Clay, 61, passed away on November 30, 2014 in Houston, TX. . Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2014, at Lane Chapel CME Church, 1305 E Skelly, Hobbs, New Mexico with Reverend J. L, Joyner Reverend Larron Fields officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Haven memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, December 04, 2014, 8 a.m. 7 p.m. at Chapel of Hope which is charge of arrangements. www.chapelofhopefunerals.com

She was born on January 27, 1953 in Hobbs, N.M. to James Willie, Sr. and Helen Ruth Singleton. Cecil joined Church at an early age and as she grew older she took her place as a loyal servant of the Lord and Church. At Lane CME Church she served as a Stewardess and helped with any Board that needed her help. After moving to Spring, TX she became a member along with her Husband at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church located in Humble, Texas.

Cecil grew up in Hobbs, N.M. where she graduated from Hobbs High School in 1971. After high school she went to work for City of Hobbs as a Secretary and then became an operator at G.T.E. where she worked until her retirement in 1994 to spend more time with her family. After a few years of retirement she attended New Mexico Junior College working on an Associates Degree in Child Development and made the Deans List 4 semesters while working at Jefferson Elementary and Heizer Middle School. After moving to Spring, TX she attended real estate school to become a licensed agent and was one test away from completing her Real Estate License.

Cecil married her high school sweetheart Donald Gene Biggy Clay in 1972 in El Paso, TX. They were happily married for 42 years. Cecil was a member of National Education Association and was a competitive bowler traveling throughout West Texas, New Mexico and Nevada. She also enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports, and she was their 1 fan and the loudest in the stands while traveling with her husband and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Ryan ONeil, brother, James grandparents Joe and Lillie Gamble
Cecil is survived by her husband Donald of Spring, TX two daughters, Rasheema of San Antonio, TX and Nicole of Palm Desert, CA two sons: Shelby of Hobbs, N.M. and Jarey of Spring, TX and GodDaughter Kristal of Tyler, TX. Four grandchildren, her mother Helen, 3 brothers and 1 brotherinlaw, 1 sister and 4 sisterin laws, a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.
