Mike Northcutt, 64, of Hobbs, NM passed away suddenly on June 4, 2016 and went to be with the Lord. He was well respected, hardworking and dependable.
Mike was born June 17, 1951 in Hobbs, NM. He spent his school years in Lovington, NM, where he played football, basketball and track. He graduated from Lovington High School in 1970 and was a member of the 1969 state football team. He married the love of his life, Beverly Long, in 1976 in Lovington, NM. Mike was hired in March 1975 by Unocal. He worked at the Dollarhide plant until being transferred to Lovington, NM in early 1976. In 1988 he was transferred to Levelland, TX until transferring back to Hobbs in 2003. In August 2005 he became a Chevron employee when UNOCAL/Pure was acquired by Chevron. During his 41 years he held numerous positions, including roustabout, pumper, production foreman, production superintendent, well site manager, and well site adviser. There was not a job he could not do or that was too dirty or hard.
Mike enjoyed coaching and helping others. He devoted many springs and summers to the Levelland Little League baseball program. He mentored many people both through baseball and at his job quietly and effortlessly. He treated everyone the same.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed his trips every fall with his son Clint and his brother/best friend Kenny Burt.
He was extremely loving and proud of his family. He loved them unconditionally and always defended them. He loved becoming a grandparent, playing and holding his new grandchild, Ryker Michael Norhtcutt.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Hobbs, NM, his daughter, Ashley Northcutt, M.D. of Chandler, AZ, his son Clint, Stacey and Ryker Northcutt of Hobbs, NM, his four sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, nieces and nephews, his mother, Marjorie Northcutt of Hobbs, NM, his brothers Jackie Northcutt of Mertzon, TX and Darryl Northcutt of Groves, TX.
