A memorial mass will be held for Michael Albus Mike age 60, of Hobbs, New Mexico, Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Helena Catholic Church with Father Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. A private blessing of the cremation remains will be at a later date. Mike died December 1, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center, Lubbock, Texas. He was born July 4, 1950, in Littlefield, Texas. Michael married Camille Bood September 20, 1975, at St. Helena Catholic Church in Hobbs.
He was a graduate of Southwest Oklahoma University. Mike loved serving God, family, friends and the community. He was passionate about sports, especially basketball and baseball, even refereed basketball. A lifelong dream was fulfilled when he was recently able to attend a World Series game with family and friends. He was very generous, compassionate and appreciated the small and simple things in life the green of the grass, light of the morning and the darkness of night. Mike was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and was coowner of Hobbs Drug for over thirty years. He was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church.
Albus is survived by his wife, Camille Albus of Hobbs a son, Dustin Albus of Kyle, Texas two daughters, Ashley Ferguson, and husband Jared, of Kyle, Texas, and Andrea Albus of Las Cruces, New Mexico his mother, Evelyn Backus, of Lubbock, Texas a sister, Gail Sims, and husband Dan, of Wheeler, Texas a brother Gary Albus, and wife Penny, of Lubbock, Texas cherished nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert Albus brother, Terry Albus sister, Ann Arnold fatherinlaw, B. J. Bood motherinlaw, Sarah Bood and sisterinlaw, Maria Weber.
