Melvin (“Mel”) Lee Pyeatt, Jr. was born May 24, 1961, in Midland Texas and passed away, September 6, 2024, in Hobbs, New Mexico.Mel moved to Hobbs in 1962 and remained in Hobbs throughout his life.Mel married his high school sweetheart, Sabrina May 30, 1981.Mel loved the Lord and made sure his regular prayers included anyone in need.
Mel was a very kind-hearted man, rarely meeting a stranger and never passing up the opportunity to engage in conversation. Mel had a tremendously big heart, always willing to help friends and family whenever asked and was always quick to provide kind words for those in distress. Mel loved to laugh and tease to put a smile on your face.
Mel was very energetic and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working. Mel was an extremely hard worker and was honored to be employed by the Lucky Family of Excellence, a company that is true to its name in treating their employees like family. Mel’s family sincerely appreciates his co-workers’ care and compassion during his final hours of his life.
Mel is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sabrina, sons, Christopher Lee Pyeatt of Hobbs and Sean Michael Pyeatt of Hobbs, sister, Cindy Pender (David) of The Woodlands, Texas, brother David Pyeatt (Jennifer) of Hobbs, nieces Lyndsay Kelly (Tyler) of Aledo, Texas, Jennifer Contreras (Fabian) of Hobbs, Jessica Pyeatt (Alex) of Austin, Texas, nephew Brandon Pender of The Woodlands, Texas, grand nieces and nephews, Haden Alexander, Caison Alexander, Jayden Contreras, Alexa Contreras, Mia Contreras, Jax Beckett, Easton Blair, Rylie Kelly, Jesse Kelly and Hunter Kelly.
Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Lee Pyeatt, Sr. and Bonnie Marie Pyeatt, his maternal grandparents, JW Weaver and Mildred Weaver and paternal grandparents John Bob Pyeatt and Katie Cooper Pyeatt.
Mel will be greatly missed by all those that loved him.
