Melva McCorkle of Hobbs, New Mexico was received gently into the Fathers hands on May 15, 2007, at 7:20 am, in Lubbock, TX. Melva McCorkle was born March 13, 1924 and was a true homemaker and devoted her life to caring for her family. She was very creative with oil paints through canvas work, ceramics, and wood crafts. She produced beautiful crocheted afghans to share with family and friends. Her love of nature was exhibited throughout her home and through the craft ideas she provided for a childrens Sunday school class at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church for several years during her forty-six years of membership. Her love for church family and friends was displayed through her hostess position at Taylor. She was an active member from 1947 to 1962 of the Crane Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a soul modest person, but her love of God is evidenced by the love demonstrated through raising her children in a Christian home. She was blessed with the knowledge that all of her children and their respective spouses, her grandchildren, and now her great grandchildren know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Her example of soul mate love was exemplified by her love for her predeceased husband, Jim. They married in September 3, 1941. This strong bond of love created three wonderful children, Jimmie Robert McCorkle, Cheryl Diane McCorkle Boyd, and Duane Wilson McCorkle. She extended her love to the spouses of her children, Patty McCorkle, Roger Boyd, and Margaret McCorkle. Melvas legacy is the thread of love which continues in her six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Wynelle Murphy, her sister-in-law, Barbara Webb, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
