Mary Roddenberry

January 8, 1925 — April 21, 2017

Mary Bell Roddenberry, age 92, of Hobbs, passed peacefully at home on Friday, April 21, 2017. She was born on January 8, 1925 to the late Leon and Annie Lee in Kingston, NC, and married to William Roddenberry on April 3, 1940. She is survived by two sisters Elizabeth Knight and Hazel Day, and brother Talmadge Lee.

For 60 years, she was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Hobbs, NM. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the roses she loved so well and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.

She earned her master's degree in Early Childhood Education and established Lea Work Activity Center, where she worked as Director for over 20 years. Mary was an active member of Rebecca's Lodge for over 60 years.

Her love will forever be cherished in the lives of her four daughters; Betty Baskette and Billie Smith of Hobbs, NM, Linda Forbus of Odessa, TX and Sue Barbaree of St. Cloud, FL and son-in-law's, Bob Forbus, Johnie Smith and Cary Barbaree. Mary had nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
