A memorial service for Mary Kerby, 89, of Hobbs will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Chapel of Hope. Star Hospice Chaplain Steve Lord will officiate. Cremation will take place.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Hope.
Mary died March 4, 2011, in Hobbs. She was born July 5, 1921, in Elgin, Scotland. She married Lyman H. Kerby on October 2, 1944, in London. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Mary moved to Hobbs in 1945. She enjoyed gardening and was still mowing her yard at age 70. Mary spent many hours visiting with her neighbors. She was an avid reader. Mary loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include son, Mark Kerby and wife Linda of Hobbs three grandsons, Nicholas Kerby and wife Jennifer of Hobbs, Zachary Kerby and wife Amber of Hobbs and Khristopher Kerby of Albuquerque granddaughter, Ashley Kerby of Midland two greatgrandsons, Kaleb and Aiden Kerby of Hobbs sister, Ann Allen of London extended family, Sally and Martha and her pet, Bear.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, son, Donnie Kerby and brother, Bill Copeland.
