Mary Henson of Hobbs, NM passed away on April 4, 2025 in Denver City surrounded by family. Mary was born on January 9, 1940 to Frances and John Gaston. She was preceded in death by one sister, Earlene Redfern, and two brothers, Billy Gaston and Eddie Gaston.
Mary ran the Red Cross office in Hobbs for many years. Over the years, she took many blood pressures of senior citizens. Mary created the program that allowed for this within the organization. She left that agency and went to work for Patterson Drilling as their office manager, retiring from there in 2005.
Mary was a very gifted cook, seamstress, crocheter, and crafter. One of her biggest pleasures in life was to create things to gift to people. Over the years she cooked, sewed, crocheted and crafted many beautiful items to share with family and friends.
Mary found treasured friendships in her Tuesday crafting group. She got great pleasure in baking lunch goodies to take. This group of ladies were very near and dear to her heart.
Mary is survived by daughter Sherry Woodruff (Dewayne-deceased), son Gary Henson (Pam), and daughter Lori Patterson (Michael). She had three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, a son-in-law, Dewayne Woodruff, and grandson, Ryan Seay.
