Mr. Martin Gonzlaes, Jr, Marty B, 67, went home to be with the Lord on May 9, 2014 in Hobbs, New Mexico. Martin was born March 3, 1947 in Santa Rosa, Texas to Martin and Aurora Gonzales.
He is survived by three children, Martin, Jr of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Michelle Wilkerson
of Denver City, Texas, and Martina Gonzales of Las Cruces, New Mexico. He is also survived by nine grandchildren two great grandchildren eight brothers and four sisters, Fred Maryellen Gonzales of Hobbs, Cayetano Norma Gonzales of Hobbs, Jimmy Ginger Gonzales of Hobbs, Ernest Gonzales of Shreveport, Louisiana, Frank Olga Gonzales of Hobbs, Rudy Yolanda Gonzales of Plains, Texas, George Gonzales of Hobbs, Anthony Gonzales of Dumas, Texas, Tina Shoemaker Paul of Hobbs, Adelita Lopez of Shreveport, Louisiana, Aurora Jacobo of Hobbs, and Connie Shaffer of Lubbock, Texas various nephews, cousins and godchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Aurora Gonzales of Hobbs, and brother Raul and one grandson Joe of Denver City, Texas.
Martin loved to hunt with his brothers and nephews. He loved to fish as long as there was water. He barbqued almost every evening and weekends with family. He raced cars in his younger years in Hobbs and Odessa, Texas. He was known as Marty B. He raced his 396 Chevelle and 442 Oldsmobile.
A rosary will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at St. Helena Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez. Interment will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
