On April 29, 1959 she married the man of her dreams Felipe Valdez in Van Horn, TX. They had one son, Merced. They also helped raise Lolo Urias.

Martha was a gentle, quiet soul. Her family was her pride and joy whom she loved unconditionally. Her home spoke volumes because of all the pictures, trinkets and special keepsakes given to her by family and friends.

Her unwavering faith kept her strong and determined to keep on fighting. She loved the Lord with a heart of gold. Many nights she could be heard saying her bedtime prayers and calling on the name of Jesus her redeeming savior. She enjoyed reading, crossstitching, watching the Dallas Cowboys and keeping up with the Van Horn Eagles sport teams through the Van Horn Advocate.
Weekly she would call family or friends to check up on them and she was faithful to always remember birthdays and anniversaries.

One of her most pressing concerns was that she would not get to meet her great granddaughter Karsen, but the Lord blessed both of them with 8 wonderful months making precious and priceless memories. Lots of smiles, hugs and kisses were exchanged during that time.

She is survived by her children Merced and Lucy Valdez of Hobbs, NM, her grandchildren Benita Lulu and Kesomi Siaosi of Hobbs, NM, Isaac and Lynn Valdez of Banner, WY, Sarah and Brad May of Hobbs, NM, Phillip Valdez of Hobbs, NM., great grandchildren Siali Siaosi of Norman, OK, Samisoni Siaosi and Karsen May of Hobbs, NM and Ethan and Elicia Valdez of Banner, WY.
