January 9, 1926 — February 11, 2019

Mrs. Marjorie "Marj" Ray née Moore went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2019 in Hobbs, NM at the age of 93 years.

Marj is survived by her husband J.T. Ray, children Grace and Jim Roberson of Hobbs, Judson T. Ray Jr. of Hobbs, Samuel and Vickie Ray of Frederick, CO, Howard Ray of Hobbs, Robert and Betsy Ray of Hobbs, Christie and Chuck Barbee of Roswell and special son Martin Garcia and 4 grandchildren Tarence, Cason, Braden and Matthew. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Flora and brothers W.O., Monroe, Raymond, Freeman and Ernest.

Mary Marjorie Moore was born on January 9, 1926 in Cisco, Texas to William Oliver Moore and Nellie Virginia Notgrass Moore. She graduated from Hardin-Simmons University and married Judson Thomas Ray, Sr. in 1953 after moving to Imperial, Texas. Over the years, the couple welcomed 6 children into their home and she set about teaching them her love of music and her Christian faith. Her children remember her as a tireless, dedicated and loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals and welcomed all their friends into her home and to the dinner table just as if they were her own children.

Marjorie was an accomplished musician and teacher, instilling in all her children a love of music and an appreciation for all types of music. She was an individual who loved music and was passionate about playing the organ and piano for her church and in sharing her love of music with as many children as she was able, teaching many children to play the piano and performing as an accompanist for students at music competitions well into her sixties.
