Hobbs

Marjorie Annette “Margie” McBroom went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2019 in Hobbs, NM at the age of 90.  Margie is survived by her son and daughter in law, Don and Carlann McBroom of Midland, Tx, grandchildren Kim and Freddie Gonzales of Hobbs, NM, Dawn and Tito Rodriguez of Midland, Tx and Cliff and Caryl McBroom of Tennessee Colony, TX, great-grandchildren Dylan and Karissa Wisneski, Cassi Wisneski, Luke Wisneski, Ashley Allen, Alyssa and Kolten Crawford, Cheyann McBroom and Haden McBroom and great-great grandchildren Kiptyn and Kasyn Crawford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Guy Shaw, husband, W.T. “Mac” McBroom, daughter, Dorothy Martin, son-in-law, Ronnie Martin and grandson, Ronnie Martin, Jr.

Margie was born on July 2, 1928 in Saint Cloud, Minnesota to Dr. Ralph and Lillian (Johnson) Shaw. She married W.T. “Mac” McBroom on September 2, 1944 in Olympia, Washington.  After living in Alabama, Minnesota and Texas, they moved to Hobbs in 1953 and raised their family here.  Margie worked for Reese Prescription Shop and Norte Vista Pharmacy.  She was a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Masonic Widows.  She loved to dance and enjoyed going to Senior Center dances on the weekends with her friends.  Margie was an avid bowler most of her adult life.  She began competing in the Senior Olympics in 1992 and won numerous gold and silver medals in Singles and in Doubles with her good friend/sister, Cynthia Bryant.  Her last Senior Olympic Competition was in 2018.  Margie was a member of Taylor Memorial Baptist church.

Margie was always fun, energetic and full of life.  She also had a quiet dignity and grace that few people possess. Her first question for any problem was always “Have you prayed about it?”   Her grandchildren will always remember the twinkle in her eye when they were around and all the fun times and laughter that were always had with Nanaw.  She will be missed dearly by so many.

The family would like to thank the staff of Elite Home Health and Kindred Hospice for your kindness and support during these difficult last few months.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children.
