Marie Prothro

Funeral services for Marie Prothro of Hobbs, N.M., are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Jefferson Street Church of Christ with Clay Martin, minister, officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. CDT at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas.

Visitation is 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Mrs. Prothro, 80, died May 5, 2008 at her home in Hobbs, N.M. She was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Loraine, Texas. She married Pete James E. Prothro in 1953 in Eunice, N.M.

Marie had a great sense of humor. She was truly devoted to her friends and family and wanted everyone to be happy. Marie was concerned about others' well-being. She was a very gentle person.

She was a member of Jefferson Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include two nephews, Mark Earnest of Albuquerque, N.M., and Bobby Earnest and wife B.J. of Albuquerque, N.M.; two great-shy;nephews, Brian Earnest of Albuquerque, N.M., and Mike Earnest of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a great-niece, Kelly Earnest of Albuquerque, N.M.; a greatshy;grandniece and nephew; a step-granddaughter, Stephanie Dufford of Rock Springs, Wyo.; a sister-in-law, Eula Parker of Provencal, La.; and many close friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Pete James E. Prothro, and a son, Rusty George L. Prothro.
