Maria H. Piña (Melie) went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016. She was born to Florentino and Guadalupe Hernandez on June 8, 1939 in Belzoni, Mississippi.
Mrs. Piña Has been a resident of Hobbs since 1963 after moving here from Rotan, Texas. Maria married Juan G. Piña, Sr. on December 7th, 1956 in Snyder, Texas.
Mrs. Piña was a homemaker who enjoyed nothing more than to spend time with her husband and children, and the rest of her family and friends. She also, loved attending church.
In 1995, Maria helped raise money for St. Helena's 18 and under Youth Softball Team, which won the World Sportsmanship award which could not have been possible without all of her help. She was also the Hobbs Eagle's #1 6th man.
Maria H. Piña is survived by three sons; Jose Jesus (Pickle) Piña, Inez H. Piña (fiancee Sulema), Juan H. Piña (Chico) and wife Mary all of Hobbs, NM, six daughters; Juanita Piña of Hobbs, Lupe (husband David) Granados, Linda (husband Kenny) Gonzales, Elia (husband Fabian) Lopez all of Albuquerque, NM, Maria Piña Hawk of Augusta, GA and Delia Piña Juardo (husband Leo), she also has 28 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Juan G. Piña, Sr., six sons; Danny H. Piña, Arturo Piña, Jose Piña, Jesus Piña and two other sons, two daughters; Delilah H. Piña, Amelia Piña, one grand-daughter, Brittany Nicole Nelson, her parents, Florentino and Guadalupe Hernandez, four brothers; Jesse Hernandez, Pete Hernandez, Albert Hernandez, Arcadio Rameriz, three sisters; Margret Davis, Trini Rangel and Julia Hernandez.
Maria was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.
