alignjustifyMaria G. Martinez of Hobbs died May 6, 2009, at Lea Regional Medical Center. She was born December 12, 1924, in Presidio, Texas.

alignjustifyServices will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Fr. Pedro Valdez will officiate.

Rosary will be Friday, May 8, 2009, at 6 p.m. at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

alignjustifyMartinez, 84, married Roman Martinez Sr. in January, 1943, in El Paso, Texas.

alignjustifyShe was the best loving mother and grandmother. She took the time to care for her children and grandchildren. Marie loved to cook, sew and she loved music. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

alignjustifyShe was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Olivas and Petra Olivas; her husband; one son, Alonzo Martinez; and two great-great grandchildren.

alignjustifySurvivors include three sons, Roman Martinez Jr. of Fabens, Texas, Carlos Martinez of Fabens, Texas, and Ivan Martinez and wife Yolanda. of Fabens, Texas; five daughters, Dora Martinez of Havelock, North Carolina, Maria Esther Silva of Fabens, Texas, Margarita Martinez of Fabens, Texas, Rosemary Castruita and husband Raul of Hobbs, and Maria Lourdes Guillen and husband Adan of Hobbs; a special niece, Nora Carrasco of Fabens, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
