Missionary Mardis Berry was born on April 2, 1927, in Columbus, Mississippi to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie and Willie Lewis. Mrs. Berry transitioned into glory on September 19, 2019, surrounded by love ones. She lived in Hobbs, New Mexico for over 64 years. Missionary Berry was a devoted Christian and shared the Word of the Lord with everyone she came into contact with to win souls for the Kingdom.
Missionary Berry was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Willie Lewis, her husband Deacon Coleman Berry, Sr., her sister Hattie Thompson, her brothers Collier Lewis, George Lewis, and Isaac Lewis, and her granddaughter Andrea Anderson.
Surviving are her children Edward Bookert, Jr. of Albuquerque, NM, Coleman D. Berry, Jr. of Hobbs, NM and Dr. Ruben D. Berry (Barbara) of Charleston, SC and Evelyn Renea Anderson (Arnold) of Houston, Texas; her sisters Emma Lewis and Levora York, of Hobbs, NM and Laura Dean of Odessa, TX; her grandchildren Edward Bookert of Atlanta, GA, Kim Butler (Hercules) of Mansfield, TX, Elaine Bookert, Cassandra Bookert-Pinedo (Luis), Kassen Roth Bookert of Albuquerque, NM, Marjon Berry of Charleston, SC and seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
