Mabel V. Brown of Hobbs, NM passed from this life, into her glory, on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in Lubbock, TX at UMC hospital. She was born in Duncan, OK on February 4, 1927 to Joseph Graham and Clara Graham Slaughter. She was 88 years, 10 months old and had lived in Hobbs since 1954. She was a Christian, loved the Lord and to sing His praise. Mabel had many names, she was "mama" to her children, "nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Growing up she was "Doodle Bug" to her family, and then "Aunt Doodle" to her nieces and nephews.
Mabel had picked cotton in her early adult years, been a butcher for many years and then owned and operated a very successful business, "The Tropical Fish Bowl" for 32 years.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Bill Pollard, and then her husband, J.L.E. "Brownie" Brown, one son Jessie, granddaughter, Tammy Wheeler Rodgers, and grandson Gary "Wheel Dawg" Wheeler.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce Henson of Odessa, TX, daughter, Deloris "Dee" Gilmore, husband Maxie, son Timmy "Tim" Brown of Hobbs, stepsons; Edward "Jim" Brown and wife Coral of Texas, Lloyd "Pete" Brown of California, granddaughter, Misty Mitchell Emig of Hobbs, other granddaughters and grandsons, nieces, nephews and others she gave a home and love to over the years.
