alignjustifyLola's loving heart and her sweet, gentle spirit will be missed but never forgotten.

Lola Maurlene Vestal, 74, passed away at her home on May 26 surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 29, 2009, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with interment following at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be May 28, 2009, at Chapel of Hope from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, with the family being in attendance from 6-8 p.m.

Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny; one daughter, Pam and husband Ken of Lake Forest, California; and one son, Johnny and wife Shelley of Lubbock, Texas; 3 grandchildren; and 3 great -grandchildren.

alignjustifyLola was born August 24, 1934, in Gurdon, Arkansas, to John and Nellie Posey. She spent her high school years in Seagraves, Texas, and graduated from Seagraves High School in 1953. After graduating, she moved to Hobbs where she began working at Western Union. She married Johnny on September 5, 1953. During the next 9 years she continued at Western Union and began a family.

alignjustifyHer greatest passion was always her family - driving on Friday nights to go watch Pam play clarinet in the marching band or driving across the country to watch Johnny play baseball for Texas Tech.

alignjustifyIn 1972, she began a new career at Lea Regional Hospital as a medical transcriber. She ultimately worked her way up to becoming the Director of Medical Records in 1984. Over the next 13 years she received many awards and accolades from her colleagues. In 1996, she retired to enjoy a life of leisure with her husband of 56 years.
