Lois Williams

Lois Viola Williams, 93, was born at home in Rush Springs, OK on Sept. 19, 1922, to James and Lottie Roberts and passed away Sept. 4, 2015. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8 from 8am -7pm. Also Wednesday, September 9 at 8am till service time at Chapel of Hope. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:00 am September 9 at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home and burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Lois followed five boy siblings and the family was surprised by the birth of a beautiful baby girl. Growing up Lois's older brothers showered her with brotherly attention. She attended elementary school in Knox City, TX but graduated from O'Brian Texas High School in 1940. Lois married Otho Williams in Lamesa, TX in 1944 but soon moved to Hobbs, NM. Lois and Otho shared 54 years together while raising two boys and two girls until his death in 1998. She was a loving and gracious homemaker most of her life and made her family her life. She worked at Woolworth's in her early years in Hobbs and only returned to work at Tempo Hardware to support her children's extracurricular activities. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and frequented garage and estate sales. She was an avid antique collector and maintained a booth at a local antique mall for several years. She was very generous with her time and was a very giving lady. She focused her life around her four children and eight grandchildren and was adored by them all. Her grand children knew her as a loving "Nana". To her children she was known as "Momma". She was loved and respected by old friends and new friends and by all that knew her. She is in Heaven with her Lord and Savior and all her friends that have gone on before her. Lois was preceded in death by her parents James and Lottie Roberts, husband Otho Williams, and son James Williams. Lois is survived by son Dennis Williams (Brenda), 2 daughters, DeeAnna Gibson (Joe), and Donna Duke (Mike Etheridge), 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
