Lois Dewitt

Lois DeWitt was born December 31, 1924 in Washburn, Missouri to Wyatt and Belle Lawson. She passed away July 30, 2015 in Hobbs, NM.

Lois married Virgil DeWitt on June 16, 1942 on the front porch of the preacher's farmhouse. She loved her garden, fishing, sewing and canning for her children. She was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church and very active there. She enjoyed her home and being with her family.

She is survived by her daughter; Carolynn Ainsworth (Donald) of Hobbs, NM, two grandsons; Josh DeWitt (Jenny) of Bainbridge Island, WA, and Tracy McElvaney (Paige) of Firestone, Co, one daughter-in-law; Jan DeWitt of McKinney, TX; five granddaughters; Amy Merek (Bobby II) of Allen, TX , Julie McGuinness of Hobbs, NM, Lori Springer (Shane) of Orange, TX, Lindsey DeWitt of Albuquerque, NM, Lori Michelle Kirby, Big Spring, TX and fourteen great-grandchildren; Zack, Zoe, Brittney, Chelsea, Cydney, Bobby III, Josiah, Autumn, Jayde, Emily, Courtnie, Kaci, Kalli and Mason.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband and one son C. W. DeWitt.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, August 1, 2015 at New Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Adams assisted by Pastor Ray Poskey officiating. Graveside services will take place 11:00 am Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at King Cemetery in Seligman, Missouri. In lieu of flowers the family would like Memorial Contributions made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, New York, 10018.
