Leroy Finney, Jr.

A funeral service for Leroy Fnney, Jr. of Hobbs will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at St. John Baptist Church, 1006 E Midwest in Hobbs. The Rev. B. J. Choice will officiate. Burial will follow services at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. 6 p.m. Monday and 8 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Chapel of Hope. Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Mr. Finney, 70, died December 30, 2010, at Lea Regional Medical Center. He was born October 24, 1940, in Honey Grove, Texas. He married Teressa Dyer Finney.

Leroy retired from ConocoPhillips after 31 years of service. He was a deacon at St. John Baptist Church for 40 years. Leroy enjoyed TV, especially sports. The greatest joy in his life was his family and precious grandchildren.

He was an active member of St. John Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Teressa Finney of Hobbs two sons, Royce Finney of Hobbs and Rodney Finney, Lewisville, Texas five daughters, Gail Washington and Caroline Bradford of Seattle WA, Wanda Samuels of Midland, TX, Regina Finney of Oklahoma City, OK, and Veronica Foster of Hobbs four brothers, M. T. Finney of Hobbs, Gary Finney of Garland, TX, Howard Finney of Richardson, TX, and Stanley Finney of Dallas, TX one sister, Leisa Spradlin of Dallas, TX stepmother, Hazel Finney of Dallas, TX cousin Cheryl Trammel of Belois Wisconsin 13 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Finney, Sr. and Julia Mae Shells.
