Lena Pearl Chapman was born September 27, 1933 in Lamesa, Texas, the only child of Jewell Mae Hogg and Hale Melton.
Lena met her husband to be, Jim Chapman, in San Angelo, Texas where she was a waitress at a caf across from where he worked at Black Chevrolet. They were married September 29, 1951 in Rock Chapel Baptist Church, Hobbs, New Mexico. Three children were born to this union, sons Darrell and Larry, and daughter Karen Chapman Boyd. After a few years in Albuquerque, they returned to Hobbs and opened Chapmans Body Shop on December 2, 1968. Lena kept books for their business until it sold in February 1997.
Lena was loving, generous, patient and very special, not only to her family, but to strangers, as well. Even children, who didnt really know her, called her Grandma. She will be much missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her son, Larry and his wife Cathy, and their son Cody and his wife Amanda soninlaw Jack Boyd, and his sons, Sean, Travis, and J.C., and J.C.s daughter Samantha.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Jim son, Darrell daughter, Karen and Larry and Cathys daughter, Miranda Chapman.
