Lee W. Gibbins, 86, of Hobbs, NM, passed from this life May 29, 2013, in Hobbs, NM. Mr. Gibbins was born on July 25, 1926, in Vera, TX. Lee will be cremated with a private family burial at a later date.
Lee was a member of Oddfellows, American Legion, and VFW. He had been in the Hobbs community since 1942. Lee married Juanita on October 20, 1947, in Lovington, NM, and worked as an iron worker in construction. He served in the Army and Air Force during WWII. Lee was in Okinawa, Guadalcanal and was on the front line in Japan. He enjoyed gardening, was a handy man, and loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Billy Gibbins and Mickey Gibbins, both of Hobbs, NM three daughters, Patricia Hansen of Midland, TX, Alta Carlton of Denver, CO, and Debra Boyd of Hobbs, NM a brother, Murl Gibbins of Salt Lake City, UT nine grandchildren, Christy, Arlee, Lindsay, Lisa, Zac, Cody, Mallory, Heath and Tyler and seven great grandchildren and two special sisterinlaws, Patti Gibbins and Francille Gibbins. Lee is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Gibbins his parents two brothers, Burl and Jack Gibbins and a sister, June Gibbins Grimes. His coffee drinking buddies from Daylight Donut, where they have met for years.
Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
