Funeral services for Lecie Elizabeth Pippin Rhoades will be 9 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009, at Taylor Street Church of Christ, with Dee A. Cochran officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 2, 2009 from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

A viewing will take place Thursday, December 3, 2009, from 2 - 3 p.m. with a 4 p.m. burial at Terry County Memorial Cemetery in Brownfield.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rhoades, 87, died November 28, 2009, at Lea Regional Hospital in Hobbs. She was born July 11, 1922, in Gause, Texas. She married Elmore Dusty Rhoades June 29, 2001, in Hobbs. She was a member of Taylor Street Church of Christ.

Lecie was born June 11, 1922, in Gause, Texas, and was raised in Union, Texas. As the bride of O. A. Pippin, she moved to Tokio, Texas, in 1939 to farm until his death in 1989. During her 60 plus years in Tokio, she was an active member of the Hillside Church of Christ in Plains, Texas; Tahoka Rd. Church of Christ in Brownfield, Texas; and the Tokio Home Demonstration Club. One of Lecie's greatest joys was making a home for her family and a gathering place for family and friends. She had the biggest heart and a great love for people, especially her family.

Lecie is survived by her husband, Elmore Dusty Rhoades of Hobbs; four sons, Alfred Pippin and wife Bea of Tokio, Texas; Sidney Pippin and wife Diann of Denver City, Texas, Mike Pippin and wife Marie of Goldsmith, Texas, and Billy Rhoades of Santa Fe, New Mexico; three daughters, Sherri Hatfield and husband Chris Embrey of Granbury, Texas, Mary Pearson and husband Mike of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Sandy Uhl and husband Gene of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Pippin of Lubbock, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ormal Pippin in 1989; her parents Sidney and Della Beck; seven brothers and two sisters; one son, Johnny Pippin; and a grandson, Sid Tom Pippin.
