Funeral services for LB Tippy will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with burial following at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family in attendance from 68 p.m. and Wednesday 8:00 a.m. until service time.
Chapel of Hope is in charge of arrangements.
LB Paw Paw Tippy, 83, passed away Sunday January 17, at his home in Hobbs, New Mexico, surrounded by his family. LB was born July 22, 1926, in Batesville, Arkansas. He married Nell Ward Tippy on March 31, 1950, in Dyess, Arkansas, and moved to Hobbs with his wife in 1951.
He was an army veteran of WWII and then went on to work as an automotive machinist and mechanic at General Motors in Detroit, Michigan. After moving to New Mexico, he continued to do mechanic work, working on cars and tractors for many Lea County residents and rebuilding tractors. He then became the owner of Kens Radiator from 19801992.
He is survived by four sons and their wives, Lee and Kathleen Tippy of Odessa, Texas, Roger and Carmon Tippy of Lovington, New Mexico, Jim and Susan Tippy and Joe and Debbie Tippy of Hobbs ten grandchildren, Justin and wife Chantel, Jason and wife Lauren, Cody and wife Wendi, Cammy, Rex and wife Amy, Crystal, Sharilyn and husband Shane, Clint, Gayla and husband Gary and Guy Ross eight greatgrandchildren, Kenzi, Brook, Kodi Rayne, Anna Claire, Alyssa, Madison, Kanyon Beau and Grace a sister Levine George and three brothers, JT, LeRoy and Bobby Tippy.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nell Tippy, his parents Andrew Jackson and Mary Tippy and brothers, William, Lloyd, Junior, Henry and Howard Tippy.
