Laverne Smith

LaVerne Smith, 86, passed away October 11, 2016 in Hobbs, NM. She was born December 19, 1929 in Miles, TX to Benjamin and Virgie Perry.

She married Charles Smith on February 11, 1949 in Miles, TX. She was a bank teller at Lea County State Bank for 11 years. She attended Christian Center and Cowboy Junction Church. After retirement she was an assistant on a special education school bus.

LaVerne is survived by two sons, Roy G. Hedges of Marble Falls, TX and Terry C. Smith of San Angelo, TX; one daughter, Jan Cox of Hobbs, NM; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Glen Perry, Robert Perry and Howard Perry; and five sisters, Jewel Perry, Louise Stegall, Margie Morgan, Frances Keith Sanders and Edna Fae Landgraf.
