Larry Gene Broadus, 63, of Hobbs, New Mexico, went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 30, 2014. Larry was born to the late G.H. Gib Broadus and the late Helen Broadus on June 3, 1951, in Longview, Texas. A 1969 graduate of Hobbs High School, Larry loved music and was a part of the high school marching band that marched in President Nixons Inaugural Parade. He attended Eastern New Mexico University on a music scholarship and also served in the United States Navy. Upon his return from the Navy, Larry lived in California for several years. He moved back to Hobbs in 1989 and worked for WalMart for many years.
Larry is survived by two brothers, John Broadus of Plano, TX and Allen Broadus and wife, Kay, of Hobbs, NM three nephews, Brian Broadus and wife, Carrie, of Lubbock, TX, Derrick Broadus of Atlanta, GA, and Garrett Broadus of Little Elm, TX a niece, Kirsten Schaap and husband, Rick, of Hobbs, NM. Larry is also survived by five great nieces of whom he adored Bailee and Madison Broadus, and Olivia, Ava, and Chloe Schaap. He is preceded in death by his father, G.H. Broadus and mother, Helen Broadus.
A very special thanks is given to Country Cottage Care and Rehab nurses and staff for the special care given to Larry during his long stay there. A memorial services with family and friends will be held at a later date.
