K. Jess Monsey

August 13, 1952 — March 15, 2025

Hobbs

Jess was born August 13, 1952, to W.B. Monsey, Jr. and M. Lucille Monsey, in Stamford, Texas. He grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico and graduated from Hobbs High School in 1970. He attended Brigham Young University and studied Business Administration. After leaving BYU he worked as a sporting goods retail manager for many years. Jess was an avid sports fan. He was known to travel great distances to watch BYU Football and Basketball. After he retired from retail, he moved back to Hobbs, New Mexico to take care of his aging parents. Retirement allowed him to pick up his fandom with Hobbs Eagles Sports. He spent his time watching the Hobbs Eagles play football, soccer, baseball and basketball. He rarely missed a game.

Jess will be remembered for his big personality and funny sense of humor. He loved his family and his community. He spent his life caring for others and had a special way of bringing everyone together.

Jess is survived by his brother, Jerry L Monsey, Sr., and several nieces and nephews. Jess was preceded in death by his parents, W.B. Monsey, Jr. and M. Lucille Monsey, and siblings Joyce Monsey, Jimmy Monsey and Janet Wheeler.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation made in his memory to any Hobbs Eagles Booster club or local animal rescue organization.
