Funeral services for Kenneth Wayne Ken Hamm, 82 of Hobbs, will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Chapel of Hope with Pastor Mike Adams presiding. Ken died July 12, 2012, in Lubbock, TX. He was born January 8, 1930, in Northside, TX, to Euell Myrtle Hamm. He married Shirley Eastman August 17, 1951, in Vernon, TX.
As a child Ken became a Boy Scout. Later he was in the Texas National Guard and was a Staff Sergeant in the 49th Armored Division. He worked for many years at Santa Fe Railroad. He was in management and sales in the oil industry. Ken enjoyed camping, being a rock hound, coin collecting and searching for gold. He was known as a Mr. Fixit and was a selftaught mechanic and carpenter. Ken was a devoted husband, loving father, and a friend to all who knew him.
Surviving Ken is his wife, Shirley Hamm of Hobbs four sons, Jerry Hamm of Hobbs, Bobby Hamm, and wife Maureen, of Ramah, NM, Mike Hamm of Capitan, NM, and Scott Hamm, and fiancee Rachel Camp, of Jarrell, TX a daughter, Sherry Strickland, and husband Les, of Breckenridge, TX grandchildren, Aric Holly, Scott Strickland, Nick Strickland, Ashton Hamm, Rogun Hamm, Tejah Hamm, Stacey Bond, Jolene Weller, Mikey Hamm, Kaymie Camp, Kyle Camp and eleven greatgrandchildren.
Preceding Ken in death was a grandson, Chad Bond.
The family wishes to thank Covenant Medical Center, Dr. Ike and the nurses, and Odyssey Hospice.
