Kenneth Blair Brown passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 in Hobbs, New Mexico at the age of 73.
Kenneth was born on September 2, 1943 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Kenneth graduated high school from House, New Mexico in 1961. He received his Bachelor of Science from Eastern New Mexico University in 1965, a Master of Arts from the University of Arkansas and a Master's of Fine Arts from the University of Missouri Kansas City.
Kenneth was a lifelong learner and educator, teaching at colleges and universities in Rhode Island, Missouri, Kansas, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and New Mexico.
While his teaching career took him many places Hobbs, New Mexico truly won his heart. Over the past twelve years Kenneth was a professor at the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, NM.
Kenneth was the backbone and a key member of the Community Playhouse family, building sets and sharing his love of theatre. He enjoyed teaching people how to drive and visiting family at their ranch outside of Fort Sumner, NM. Kenneth was an avid reader, mentor and friend.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Scott Brown of Farmington, NM and mother, Kathlene Welch Brown of Plainview, TX and grandparents G.R. and Mattie Brown of Hobbs, NM, and Jim and Neda Welch of Taiban, NM. Kenneth is survived by: his three daughters, Connie Brown of Tampa, FL, Kathlene Brown of Austin, TX, and Rachel Brown of Richmond, VA, his Aunt Ann Hodges of Norman, OK, his two sisters, Carolyn Kitchens and Sondra Jack both of Taiban, NM, local cousins Harold Brown and Doranne Sims of Hobbs, NM, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
