To all her grandchildren she was known as Nana. Among family, she was fondly called Kak. She was a devoted sister, mom, wife, and grandmother, and loved her family. Kathryn was a 60-year breast cancer survivor. She conquered cancer with great determination and stood as a proud example for others to follow. Many remember the decades that she was a checker at Ellison's grocery and Tootie's Supermarket where patrons remarked that she never made a mistake on their grocery bill, and she greeted everyone with a smile and warm laughter. Growing up during the Great Depression taught her the value of a good bargain, so one of her hobbies included garage sales where she looked for her treasure of the day. She touched everyone's life she came in contact with and will serve as one of God's most treasured angels.
Kathryn held great love and pride for all her children and grandchildren and encouraged them to pursue their dreams and ambitions with all they have, and she was an inspiration to all who knew her. With Kathryn's passing from this life, we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her every day, especially that big loving smile, she will remain in our hearts forever as we cherish the memories.
