Funeral services for Karen Sue Shelton Walker, 52 of Hobbs, will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012, at Grace Lutheran Church, 100 E. Berry, Hobbs, NM, officiated by Pastor Norman Barnett. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Karen died April 25, 2012, in Hobbs. She was born March 9, 1960, in Artesia, NM, to Jerry and Erliene Shelton. She married Terry Walker July 2, 1999, here in Hobbs. Karen was administrative secretary with the District Attorneys office. Following the death of her son, Steven Scott Shelton in 2002, Karen was instrumental in implementing and developing a local chapter of The Compassionate Friends. She treasured her family and friends. She was a member of Zeta Theta, a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Karen collected crosses and loved anything with butterflies and what they represent. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Surviving Karen is her husband, Terry of Hobbs her parents, Jerry and Erliene of Hobbs sister, Lisa Greenlee of Hobbs three daughters, Kristi Walker, of Lubbock, TX, Sara Lopez, and husband Eduardo, of Chula Vista, CA, and Legina Thomas, and husband Todd, of Lovington, NM niece, Hollie Silva, and husband Emanuel, of Hobbs nephew, Brandon McGill, and wife Elizabeth, of El Paso, TX nephews, Jason, Jeremy, Justin and Richard nieces, Melissa, Julie and Stephanie grandchildren, Jaxen, Keera, Audrey, Mercy, Andrew, Arianna, Allie and Austin great nephews, Scott and Branton great nieces, Jessica, Jaden, Trinity, Chloe and Miley and many other family and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her son, Steven Scott Shelton.
