J.R. Glenn

November 28, 1921 — November 30, 2013

Funeral Services will be held December 3, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. at Chapel of Hope for Mr. J.R. Glenn. Mr. Glenns grandsons, John Glenn, Stuart Sherrill, and Wade Payton, will officiate the service. Pastor Chris Ball will read the obituary. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday December 2, 2013, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m., with the family in attendance from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at Chapel of Hope.

Mr. Glenn was born to Audy Robert Glenn and Lily Petty Glenn November 28, 1921 in Wheeler, Texas. He passed from this life Friday, November 30, 2013 at Lea Regional Hospital.

J.R. married Floreine McAfee February 14, 1943 in Andrews, Texas. She preceded him in death, November 10, 2006.

J.R. served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a great dairyman, owning dairies in New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma during his lifetime. His parents worked alongside him in the dairy business. J.R. was an excellent businessman. The last fifteen years of his employment was spent driving a truck for Unichem. He was of the Assembly of God faith.

J.R. loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed all kinds of sports, and the Dallas Cowboys.

Survivors are a son, Johnny Glenn and wife Kim, of Hobbs a daughter, Caroline Sherrill and husband Alvin, of Hobbs seven grandchildren, John Glenn, wife Nikki, and their four children of Grand Junction, Colorado Jennifer Glenn and two children, of Virginia Julie Glenn and four children of Hobbs Stuart Sherrill, wife Sherri, and four children, of Midwest City, Oklahoma Debbie Peyton, husband Wade, and three children, of Comanche, Oklahoma Tanya Lankford of Texas Tammy Kissinger and children of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

J.R. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers and two sisters.
