alignjustifyFuneral services for Joye Lee Dobbs of Hobbs, New Mexico, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with Bishop Monty Wittman officiating, assisted by ministers Ronnie Sutton and Sam Gilcrease. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery.
alignjustifyVisitation is noon-6 p.m. Thursday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until service time Saturday.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
alignjustifyMr. Dobbs, 72, died August 19, 2009, at his home in Hobbs. He was born March 28, 1937, in Arnett, Oklahoma. He married Patrecia Hamilton on February 5, 1955, in Tucumcari, New Mexico.
alignjustifyJoye served in the U.S. Air Force from July 25, 1955, until July 25, 1958. He moved to Hobbs, in 1960. In 1976, he started his own welding business, Joye L. Dobbs Welding. Joye was well known for the excellence of his work. Joye was a bishop in his church and a man of great faith. His church and family were the gifts of his life. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering with his shop equipment. He was a member of General Assembly and Church of the First Born.
alignjustifySurvivors include his wife, Patrecia Dobbs of Hobbs; five sons, Kelly Edwin Dobbs and wife Becky Sue of Hobbs, Paul David Dobbs of Hobbs, and Paul's wife, Lynnette, of Agra, Oklahoma, Danny Ray Dobbs and wife Cynthia of Hobbs, Ricky Lee Dobbs and wife Debbie of Hobbs, and Robert Alan Dobbs and wife Rajeana of Hobbs; nine grandchildren, Rachel, Melissa, Joshua, Jason, Amy, Lee, Robin, Seth and Reese; five great-grandchildren, Nathan, Nicole, Neena, Ethan and Megan; one brother, Dwain D. Dobbs of Hobbs; and two sisters, Lawania Wittman of Hobbs, and Bonnie Rae Tyree of Lexington, Oklahoma.
alignjustifyJoye was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.
