Josephine Smith

Jo Smith, 76, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Covenant Lakeside Medical Center. She was born March 27,1930, in Allison, Texas. She married Ray Smith on May 16, 1947, in Clovis, N.M.

Jo was a charter member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church. She was a very active member and enjoyed the close fellowship of the church famishy;ly. She was employed by Massey Insurance and then became bookkeeper and owner with her family of Marshall Furniture of Lovington from 1976-1991. Upon retirement, she and her husband opened The Corner Cottage Gift Shop.

Survivors include her husshy;band, Ray Smith of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Frances Smith of Lovington, N.M., another son and daughter-in-law, David and Debbie Smith of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Reggie House of Hobbs, N.M.; six grandchildren, Brian Smith of Hobbs, N.M., Melody Smith of Lovington, N.M., Jennifer Smith of Amarillo, Texas, Cody Smith of Kansas City, Mo., Tanner House of Hobbs, N.M., and Ty House of Hobbs, N.M.; two great-grandshy;children, Celestial Smith of Hobbs, N.M., and Jacob Smith of Kansas City, Mo.; and a sisshy;ter, Mary Fortner of Albuquerque, N.M.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, John Edward and Mary Puckett; two brothers, Ralph and Buster Puckett; and one sister, Margaret Bremmerman.

Active pallbearers will be Brian Smith, Ty House, Tanner House, Monnie Henslee, Harrold Shaw and James Phillips. Honorary pallshy;bearers will be Ivey Massey, Ken Swinney, Jinx Roach, Tom Chambers, Glen Clement, Herman Warford, Carroll Dean, Bob Cochran, Dennis Sloan and David Wheat.
