Joseph Henry Babcock, Sonny, 68, of Hobbs passed away Nov. 23, 2007, in Lubbock, Texas.
Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Pastor Mike Kennedy of Taylor Street Church of Christ officiated.
Joe was born in Pampa, Texas, to Wilhelmena and Henry Babcock on Nov. 25, 1938. He married Patricia Spangler, then later Betty Squires.
Joe grew up in Kermit, Texas, and has been a resident of Hobbs for 44 years. He worked for Sharp Drilling, Byron Jackson Services, Watson Truck and Supply and Standard Well Service. He owned Babcock Equipment and Pennant Weight Indicators.
Joe was preceded in death by Betty Babcock; a sister, Sweetie Costanzi; and his parshy;ents, Mena and Henry Babcock.
Survivors include a son, Curtis Babcock and wife Tina of Hobbs, N.M.; two daughshy;ters, Denise McElyea and husshy;band Randy of League City, Texas, and Dana Schretlen and husband John of Whitney, Texas; three stepchildren, Bill Squires and wife Linda of Hobbs, N.M., Susan Foster of Florida and Ronnie Squires and life partner Frank Pennino of Santa Monica, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a lifeshy;time friend, Don Perry.
