Jose Raul Lopez was born in Chihuahua, Mexico on December 21, 1961 to Victor and Graciela Lopez, he departed this world on September 27, 2019. The family moved to California when Jose was three years old after 10 years they moved to Hobbs, NM. In Hobbs, he attended Hobbs schools and graduated from Hobbs High School in 1980.
Immediately after graduating he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK for basic training and AIT for one year. He was then deployed to Germany for an overseas tour for three years and was honorably discharged after four years of service.
Jose returned to Hobbs and began working for Hobbs Municipal Schools as a grounds keeper. He later began employment with the City of Hobbs in the water department for many years. Then began employment at Navajo Refinery for a year where he worked under Safety and took care of the Safety systems he always kept everything neat and tidy. During this time he was in a relationship with Alicia Natividad and helped raise her two children, Carolina and Daniel Natividad who he cared and loved very much.
In 2008, Jose moved to Chihuahua, Mexico where he began work at Escuela Alfa Ingles de Chihuahua. He was a teacher at the Universidad Technologica de Chihuahua where he received three certificates in English as a foreign language. He later began working for the call center at Data Zone for Auto Zone where he was employed for seven years and received employee of the year.
Jose is survived by his loving mother Graciela Lopez of Hobbs, NM; his seven brothers Victor Lopez of Odessa, TX; Ignacio Lopez of San Antonio, TX; Ramon Lopez of San Antonio, TX; Danny Lopez of Overland Park, KS; Eddie Lopez of Hobbs, NM; Rene Lopez of St. Petersburg, FL; and Jorge Lopez of Hobbs, NM; best friend Alicia Natividad, and 23 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Victor M. Lopez Sr., and grandmother Lucia Villalobos.
